This month we have news for golfers, for shooters, and for bridge players at any level...

Inter-Livery Bridge

The annual inter-Livery Bridge competition will be held at Drapers' Hall on 2 March 2026. Entry is for a pair, one member of which must be a Liveryman or Freeman. The partner does not need to have a Livery connection.

Timings: 5pm for 5.30 first session, followed by dinner at 7.20, second session at 8.15 and prize giving at 10pm. Carriages by 10.30.

Cost: £230 per pair (£115 each) including dinner, refreshments and stirrup cup.

Challenge trophies to the top three pairs and in various specialised categories.

Please get in touch by by return if you are interested. We may enter more than one pair (and there is a trophy for the best two pairs from the same Livery company).

Golf - The Prince Arthur Trophy

If you are a keen golfer and would like the chance to play at a superb venue, please get in touch!

The annual Prince Arthur Cup competition will be held at Walton Heath Golf Club on 21 May 2026. Entry is open to Liverymen and Freemen. The fee of £250 per person covers green fees for two rounds, bacon roll, morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea, prizes, staff fund and VAT. There is a discount of £50 to any player who is under 40.

If you would like to play at this prestigious course at a substantial discount to the visitor price (normally £400 for two rounds), please get in touch in February for further details as entries have to be made in March.

The Farriers last won this competition in 1989 - it would be fantastic to bring home the trophy again!

Inter-Livery Clay Pigeon Shooting (for experienced shooters)

The annual inter-Livery Charity Clay Shoot will be held at The West London Shooting School in Northolt on Wednesday 13 May 2026. Entry is open to Liverymen and Freemen. Last year we had two teams of four and it was a highly enjoyable day.

Cost per team: £1,112 (£278 each) including breakfast and lunch.

Day Rifle Shooting (from serious shooters to complete novices)

We have been invited to enter a team of three for a Livery Shooting Day at the Bisley Ranges, near Woking on Friday 29 May 2026. Full details are awaited, but the entry forms come out in March and will be first come first served (for a maximum of 16 teams), so we're trying to put together a team in readiness!

Petanque

We have been invited to enter a team of three for Inter-Livery Petanque on Thursday 30 July 2026. Full details are awaited, but we're told that this is open to Liverymen and Freemen.
