The Farriers’ Company maintains strong links with each of its Affiliated Units of HM Forces


The First Aid Nursing Yeomanry (Princess Royal's Volunteer Corps)
Formed in 1907, the First Aid Nursing Yeomanry (FANY) is an all-female volunteer corps supporting military and civil authorities in emergencies. From driving ambulances in World War I to serving as coders in World War II, its members have taken on pioneering roles. Today, it provides communications and operational support, assisting in crises, including the Covid-19 pandemic.
Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal, Past Master of the Company, is Commandant-in-Chief.

HMS Prince of Wales
The second of the UK’s Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers, HMS Prince of Wales represents the modern Royal Navy’s capability and innovation.

The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery
The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery, based in Woolwich, is a prestigious ceremonial unit of the British Army, upholding the historic tradition of mounted artillery. Established in 1947 by King George VI, the unit plays a key role in state and royal events, firing Royal Salutes for royal anniversaries and national occasions.

RAF 18(B) Squadron
Based at RAF Odiham,18 (B) Squadron plays a critical role in tactical airlift operations for the Royal Air Force, operating the Boeing Chinook helicopter. Established in 1915, the squadron has a distinguished history. The Squadron has been actively deployed in key military operations, including tactical air transport in Iraq and Afghanistan, and has contributed to humanitarian missions worldwide, providing essential support in crisis situations.

The Light Cavalry, Honourable Artillery Company
As a ceremonial unit of the Honourable Artillery Company, the Light Cavalry provides mounted escorts and guards for civic events, including the Lord Mayor’s Show. Based in Windsor Great Park, they also conduct equestrian training and Skill at Arms displays.

The Royal Army Veterinary Corps (RAVC)
The Royal Army Veterinary Corps (RAVC) is a specialist branch of the British Army dedicated to the care, training, and management of military animals, particularly horses and dogs. Established in 1796, the Corps has played a vital role in military history, providing expertise and operational support.
Today, the RAVC continues to ensure the health and welfare of military working animals. Their work is essential in maintaining the performance of cavalry horses, ceremonial mounts and service dogs deployed across various roles, from security to search and rescue operations.
