USA - Higher Examinations
AWCF Examinations - North America
History:
In October 2009 a very successful session for the higher examinations (AWCF and FWCF) was held at the Heartlands Horseshoeing School at Lamar, Missouri. One candidate was awarded his FWCF and three others achieved the AWCF. Four more passed one of the AWCF modules, a major step to achieving the AWCF, and two of those have subsequently been awarded the AWCF.
Another set of Higher Examinations was held in the USA during October 2011, again at HHS Lamar, MO, where another three candidates achieved their AWCF, and a further session in October 2012 awarded the AWCF to a further three candidates. Eleven US farriers have now achieved their AWCF qualification from examinations held in the USA.
Current plans for November 2013:
There have been sufficient numbers of applicants to hold an AWCF session at The Kentucky Horseshoeing School with permission of Mitch Taylor. The planned dates are from Friday 15th November to Sunday 17th November.
There are seven applicants so far and theerfore there is space for a a few more. For those now wishing to apply then an AWCF (USA) Application Form WITHOUT PAYMENT should be sent by e-mail to the Registrar as soon as possible. Payment may be in two installments. Candidates should pay by PayPal for the Practical Module now, ensuring that they have selected the USA version. Payment for the Theory Module must be made by Saturday 20th July 2013.
Please read the Requirements section below carefully. Those interested should contact Mitch Taylor or the Registrar.
Requirements:
All candidates for the AWCF are required to hold the DipWCF, which is awarded to those who have held the AFA CJF qualification for more than 2 years. Application is required on the CJF-DipWCF Application Form, together with a copy of their AFA CJF Certificate, and the fee should be paid using the PayPal facility. The Application Form and AFA CJF Certificate may be scanned and emailed as attachments to the Registrar. Applicants must be in good standing with the AFA (ie a current member). The award of the DipWCF can take some time so overseas applicants looking to take the AWCF should start this process as early as possible. Diploma Certificates are usually presented by the Senior Examiner at the start of the AWCF examination session.
Candidates who then wish to apply for the AWCF should initially pay for the module(s) they wish to take using the PayPal facility on the web site. Candidates will also need to download and complete the relevant AWCF (USA) Application Form, which should be scanned and e-mailed to the Registrar. The Registrar will accept applications for the AWCF at the same time as the DipWCF, but the AWCF applications cannot be processed without the DipWCF Application Form and Fee.
North American Farriers who are interested in future WCF examinations should initially contact Chris Gregory FWCF or Mitch Taylor or the Registrar.
