Appendix 6 - Health and Safety

HEALTH AND SAFETY DURING PRACTICAL TESTS

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

  1. Eye protection must be worn
  2. Foot protection must be worn - steel toe capped boots
  3. Suitable safety clothing must be worn
  4. Ear protection is advisable

SAFETY OF TOOLS

All tools bought to examinations must be safe and secure

FIRST AID

Candidates and examiners must familiarise themselves with the location of the first aid boxes.

STRIKERS

Candidates are responsible for the conduct of their own strikers and their compliance with health and safety matters.

COMPLIANCE WITH HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY OF THE ESTABLISHMENT WHERE THE EXAMINATION IS BEING HELD

Candidates must familiarise themselves, and comply with, the establishment's health and safety policy.

Candidates are required to comply with the statutory provision for health and safety at work and will not be permitted to take the practical part in the examination without wearing protective footwear and safety glasses in the forging and shoeing area. The wearing of watches, bracelets, and rings is not permitted during the conduct of a practical examination.
